Made-to-order limited series castings of Emilie Brzezinski’s carved bowls. This casting shows Emilie’s hallmark carved layers that acknowledge the years of life the tree provided the earth. Her reinterpretation of the rings of trees shows us a three-dimensionality of age – and a timelessness.
The Carve
Emilie magically preserves the rawness of red oak while providing an organizational geometry that allows for recognition of the proportion and scale of the wood’s detail. This bowl possesses a captivating sense of impossibility—exactly how we feel when we experience Emilie’s trunks. The scoring of the trunks is one of Emilie’s methods to reveal the history of each trunk, displaying a tree’s age lines from every angle, including the bark on one section. Emilie’s chainsaw and chisel carve, with the cuts of the tools competing with the perfect lines marking each year of the tree’s life. Each bowl stands uniquely, avoiding perfection. It would be boring and so unlike nature to present anything but originality in each curve, chip, chisel, and cut.
Emilie’s crafted angles point in different directions, creating new shapes, shadows, and forms… in other words, sculpture.

We are honored to continue the work that captivated and inspired Emilie, furthering her creative philosophy. As Emilie became familiar with resin and explored its potential and constraints, she began casting her carvings in this versatile material.
We now offer limited resin series reproductions of various elements from Emilie’s collection, available by order. With this legacy in mind, we are delighted to present resin castings of one of Emilie’s favorite bowl designs for a limited time.
